FIVE RED STAR WINERY RATING JAMES HALLIDAY

2008 Private Cellar Barossa Valley Shiraz Mourvèdre
Rating: 96

Good colour to a wine highlighting the synergy between old vine shiraz and mourvèdre; the bouquet has an array of sultry black fruits which the palate builds on with its complex flavour, texture and structure all harmoniously interwoven; perfect line, length and balance; the 20-year cellaring suggestion on the label is conservative.

2008 Old Garden Barossa Valley Mourvèdre
Rating: 96

Clear colour; remarkable for the core of red fruit flavours inside the wrapping of fine, savour tannins; together these (and 18 months in French oak) sustain the wonderful length and elegance of the wine.

2009 Ned & Henry's Barossa Valley Shiraz
Rating: 95

Excellent crimson-purple; the aromatic bouquet runs through plum, cherry and a hint of spice heralding a supple, almost velvety, palate; berry fruit the stage, fine tannins and oak the props. Great bargain.

2010 Gun Metal Eden Valley Riesling
Rating: 94

Pale straw-green; the gently flowery apple and citrus blossom bouquet leads into a palate that gains intensity and grip all the way through to the finish, giving great authority and style; the name echoes the outcrops of grey slate in the vineyard.

2010 LuLu Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc
Rating: 92

2009 Miss Harry Barossa Valley
Rating: 92

A southern Rhone blend of Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvèdre/Cinsaut/Carignan picked from old, dry-grown vines; the hue is bright, although relatively light, the flavours bright and juicy on a medium-bodied palate: the lack of tannins makes it a drink-soon proposition.

2009 Baby Bush Barossa Valley Mourvèdre
Rating: 89
