Private Cellar 2006

06 Private Cellar- "Terrific fragrance that draws you in"
Oct-2008

94 points

"Dean Hewitson backed this prize wine all the way to the top of his range. Terrific fragrance that draws you in, plenty of tempranillo's ripe cherries, savoury oak spice and an earthy undercurrent. Nicely judged in the mouth, more medium- than full-bodied, the tannins are supple and smoothly textured. Hewitson has played this like a charm."

Gun Metal Riesling 2007

07 Gun Metal- "Hewitson has made one of the leading '07 Eden rieslings"
Oct-2008

92 points

"Hewitson has made one of the leading '07 Eden rieslings: fine flinty/quartzy fragrance, lime, precise, lifted and fresh. The palate moves in the same savoury mineral zone; flinty lime flavour, taut, balanced and savoury."

Miss Harry 2006

06 Miss Harry- "fruit-derived complexity, dark spices and dark fruits"
Oct-2008

91 points

"This affordable modern take on the Barossa blend has plenty of fruit-derived complexity, dark spices and dark fruits; there's some toasty oak here too that also suits. The palate's low-strung and even, dark berry flavours, tannins stitched seamlessly together, finishing with fleshy plum-skin bite."

Old Garden Mourvèdre 2006

06 Old Garden- "this wine is striking for its balance and consistency"
Oct-2008

96 points

"With more than 150 years of vine age behind it, this wine is striking for its balance and consistency. Typical meaty mourvèdre, smells of ripe plums, black minerals and citrus peel. The palate delivers essence-like flavour, even and rich, it's very complete. Soulful silky tannins and some toasty oak to close; retrospective tastings reveal this is the best with some bottle-age."

Ned & Henry's 2006

06 Ned & Henry's- "One of Hewitson's most consistent front-runner reds"
Oct-2008

91 points

"One of Hewitson's most consistent front-runner reds (named after his sons) shows bright blue fruits, plenty of fragrance and charm. The palate is supple and treads lightly for Barossa shiraz: red fruit and berry cola flavours, lively and exuberant, finishing balanced and fresh. Drink up!"

The Mad Hatter Shiraz 2006

06 The Mad Hatter- "shows terrific intensity and richness"
Oct-2008

96 points

"Great McLaren Vale shiraz marries richness and softness in an irresistibly charming fashion. The brightness of the '06 is striking; it delves headlong into pure ripe dark berries and spicy lifted fruits, and has already eaten up the oak, shows terrific intensity and richness. The palate has great drive and direction, delivering deep plum and spice flavours with finesse, rolled out on plush ripe tannins; long, composed finish."
