Miss Harry 2003

03 Miss Harry "I am smart, sassy and full of character"
Toni Patterson MW, WINE What to drink 2006

"Miss Harry is simply a charming wine, made from dry grown and ancient vineyards in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. An appealing savoury character adds complexity to the soft, fleshy red fruit. It also provides balance to the inherent fruit sweetness. There's a bit of dried plum, a bit of black olive- it is a sheer feast for the senses. This wine says I am smart, sassy and full of character... catch me if you can."

Plenty of sweet ripe fruit and very good length." Best drunk: within four or five years. Food: steak and kidney pie. Stockists: Five Way Cellars, Paddington 9360 4242.

"Hewitson 2003 Miss Harry Grenache shiraz Mourvedre I can't recall Dean Hewitson ever making a bad wine and this certainly isn't one- it's the kind of wine I love to drink. Earth, sweet strawberry, a trip-wire of licorice and a medium body, it sits and flows and finishes handsomely and shoots spice-flecked flavour all the way along your tongue. Lovely unforced complexity. Drink: Now-2008."

"The impressive 2003 Miss Harry GSM is great value. Aged in old wood, it is a classic Rhone blend of 47% Grenache, 40% Shiraz and 13% Mourvedre. Deep, full-bodied, and more powerful than previous vintages, with peppery kirsch and blackberry notes as well as hints of licorice and garrigue, tremendous density, supple tannin, and a mouth filling, elegant style, it will provide immense pleasure over the next 2-5 years."

"Hewitson 2003 Miss Harry Lovely, vibrant spicy/red berry flavours have plenty of intensity, with fine, ripe tannins provide the backbone for 3-4 years' cellaring." Vol.20 No.3
