Private Cellar 2008
"perfect line, length and balance"
James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2012 Edition on Jul-2011
Rating: 96
Good colour to a wine highlighting the synergy between old vine shiraz and mourvèdre; the bouquet has an array of sultry black fruits which the palate builds on with its complex flavour, texture and structure all harmoniously interwoven; perfect line, length and balance; the 20-year cellaring suggestion on the label is conservative.
08 Private Cellar "Nicely Bowled Mr Hewitson!"
Nick Stock, The Good Wine Guide 2011 on Nov-2010
Rating : 96 Points Voted Best Blend in Australia
This 2008 Private Cellar release is a shiraz-mourvèdre blend with immense poise and grace, fusing two varieties together with seamless stitching. With smells of blue plum and blackberry, really ripe and nicely spiced-up in the winery, the oak's well matched. The palate's supple and even, with a strong, ripe sweet-fruit presence that'sunderscored by evenly placed savoury tannin structure. The palate traces a long line through the finish; really impressive line and length here. Nicely bowled, Mr Hewitson!
