Ned & Henry's 2008
08 Ned & Henry's "A typically savoury,complex and elegant Hewitson wine"
Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual on Dec-2010
Rating: 91 points
A typically savoury, complex and elegant Hewitson wine whose meaty, spicy aromas of berry/plum fruit overlie nuances of earthiness and older oak. It's long, smooth and evenly ripened, offering a pleasing length of deliciously dark berry fruits underpinned by a pliant spine of fine, powdery tannins.
2008 Ned & Henry's Shiraz "Light, easygoing style"
Nick Stock, The Good Wine Guide 2011 on Nov-2010

This is always an approachable style, and never more so than the 2008, which has ripe blackberry and plum fruits, some glossy oak and vanillin spice. The palate's carrying jube-like berry-fruit flavour, gently nursed along with fine, ripe tannins and a swathe of toasty oak through the back. Light, easygoing style.
2008 Ned & Henry's - 93 points "Yum as it ever was"

Wasn't 2008 supposed to be a tough vintage in the Barossa Valley? Well this has turned out nice again, as they say. I've a slight, but annoying cold at the moment too, but I think I'm doing well enough to review wines.
It's nutty, with that sort of a choc-hazelnut character that Hewitson wines often have. It's not exactly fruity but does have plenty of plump mixed berries, a flicker of mint and some earthiness. Nothing over-ripe or excessive here with an effortless mid-weight drinkability and soft, but dry, tannin. Excellent length. Yum as it ever was.
